A Ship Without A Captain?

Is this what it is like to be on a sinking ship and no one is listening?  This country is suffering from so many calamities  as a result of poor leadership.   Our president is so pre-occupied with the 2012 election that he seems oblivious to what is going on and unable to think ahead.  All these things that are happening were foretold.

Office of the President-Elect

There is so much work that needs done in Washington and it is not being done at all.  Between the endless vacations and campaigning, there just isn’t much time left.  Every time we hear from the president, instead of hope and direction, we just get another lecture and line of excuses about others being at fault.  So much for the “buck stops here”.   So much for holding himself accountable.

It is past time  for the president to rise up and act like a leader and forget posturing and campaigning.

It is over….or is it?

I don’t know about you, but I can’t say that I feel any relief in regard to the settlement of the issues surrounding the Debt Ceiling.   It just looks like they all fought to come out on top and then gave up in the final hours.  The legislation should have been addressed months ago and it wasn’t.   As a matter of fact, I now wonder if President Obama didn’t plan to wait this long in an effort to stretch the whole thing out past the next election.  It is more than obvious that he couldn’t afford to go through this right before the election of 1012.   In observation, he seemed more obsessed with that than any other thing.

In the end, this is madness.   Like an alcoholic having one more drink before he quits.  I can’t help but think there are many more drinks to go before we come to our senses.

There is only one solution that offers hope.   We have to help the Republicans get complete control of both Houses and the presidency in 2012.

What is All the Fuss About?

United States President Barack Obama signs int...

Have you put any thought as to what all the fuss is about in Washington?  If the Debt Ceiling has been raised so many times in the past and there never was so much ado about it before, why so now?  The difference is a lack of trust.  A lack of trust between the American public and President Obama.  The president’s track record of spending all the money in sight and any other money he can get ahold of has created a situation in which the people just can’t afford to let it continue.   Everyone knows the country has to have money to operate, but this president doesn’t seem to understand the situation this country is in.  Or…maybe he doesn’t care?

Lil Abner and President Obama?

What do they have in common.  Well, not much.   But, for a lighter moment during this bleak time, sit back and enjoy the video below that is from Lil Abner years ago.  Back then, there wasn’t that much media coverage of things in Washington.  We just assumed things were bein’ takin’ ker of.   And so, it was…

Off To Camp David?

WASHINGTON - MARCH 27: U.S. President Barack ...

The president has suggested the leaders involved in the debt talks should go to Camp David for the weekend.  If ever there was a resident in the White House that liked to work part time, Obama fits the bill.  Sure, he claims he is always working and wakes up each day worrying about  _________ ( topic varies according to which group or issue is being addressed each day).

The fact is that this debt issue is getting in the way of the Obama campaign.   His campaign was well underway when he had to interrupt it to show himself in this issue that has gripped the nation.   He appears ready to accept any agreement in order to put an end to it.   He behaved the same way when the ObamaCare bill was having problems passing.  In fact, he usually tries to detach himself from difficult issues and let others do the dirty work.  This started years ago in the Illinois legislature where he often voted “present” instead of taking part in decisions.

Who To Believe?

It only stands to reason that if we do not learn to live within our means, disaster will come.  You just cannot get out more than you put in.   It defies reason.  When will we all learn to have confidence in the system we have.   If a bank or business fails, another will rise to take its place.   In most cases, the new business will employ the failed business’s laid-off employees.

No need to spend the public money interfering with this sort of thing.  That is not what the government should be doing.

It is no wonder our government has not been taking care of its business…it is getting too involved in business it should stay out of.  We need less government and less spending.  And, we need the president to focus on the country for a change and not his campaigning.

Getting Close To A Debt Deal?

Not at all.  The players are either dug in to their  ideals or are in a situation in which the parties are so divided that a majority vote in either house is deemed impossible.

And, patience among the leaders is waning.  Signs of frustration are starting to surface.  President Obama let it out yesterday that he could not guarantee Social Security checks would be issued if the debt ceiling is not raised by his deadline date.

This is the sort of commentary that can cause panic among people that depend upon them.  Is it being used to demonize those who don’t agree to up the debt ceiling?   I think so.  In fact I think that making such a statement is thoughtless and untrue.   Paying Social Security is more important than a host of other programs.  In fact, those set to receive this money have already paid it into the Social Security program.

Have you noticed that the president seems to be floundering around with various ideas that are often ideas that he resisted in the past.  Is he really interested in what is best for the country or is he just trying to get past this business and get on with his campaigning?   He doesn’t seem to have a plan other than spending more money and increasing taxes.   In my opinion, that is the last thing this country needs at this time.

Debt Talks in Washington

With all the talk, and talk is all they have produced thus far, it is apparent that the driving force in the Debt Talks is the election in 2012.   While I am sure that most of our leaders mean to sort out a solution to the debt problems, foremost on their minds is the effect the solution they may agree or disagree to will have upon the impending election next year.  If we could only get them to forget the election and just focus on the best thing for our country.

Every day, I hear Mister Obama speak of his position as being that of the leader of the Democratic party.   It is my opinion that he should consider himself to be the leader of the entire nation during the period in which he is in office.  Isn’t that what he is supposed to be, the President of the United States?  But, I have always noticed that this is how he has been positioning himself.
